This is a campaign website, not a Town website. The Town of Saugeen Shores runs the election and is the official source for voting information. Everything on this page is a summary of what the Town has published. If anything here differs from the Town, the Town is correct. Please check the Town’s voter information page or call 519-832-2008 ext. 100.

How you vote

Internet or phone

No paper ballots will be available.

Step 1

Make sure you are registered to vote

This is the step people miss. The Town mails a voting letter to everyone on its list of registered voters. If you are not on that list you will not get one, and you will not be able to vote, even though you are entitled to.

Check now, not in October. This matters if you have moved, recently turned 18, become a citizen, bought or rented property here, or simply never received a voting letter last time. Non‑resident property owners and tenants can vote in Saugeen Shores, and are the group most often missed.

That link goes to Elections Ontario’s voter registration service. You can also call the Town Clerk’s office at 519-832-2008 ext. 100 or email elections@saugeenshores.ca to be added or corrected. Now that the list is with the Town, the Clerk is often the faster route.

Step 2

Vote between October 19 and 26

The Town mails every eligible voter a letter containing a personal identification number (PIN). You use that PIN to vote online or by telephone, at any time during the voting period.

  • Watch your mail for your voting letter and keep it somewhere safe.
  • If it does not arrive, or you lose it, contact the Town right away.
  • A Voting Assistance Centre operates at the Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre if you need help or do not have a device.
  • Bruce County Public Library branches offer free internet access.

Who is eligible to vote?

To vote in Saugeen Shores you must be:

  • A Canadian citizen;
  • At least 18 years old; and
  • A resident of the municipality, or an owner or tenant of property here, or the spouse of an owner or tenant.

Meeting all three is not enough on its own. You still have to be registered, which is what Step 1 above is for.
